 WHAT: TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT

NAME: DIAGNOSING AND FIXING THE PROBLEM SHOOTER

WHEN / DATE & TIME: SATURDAY, JULY 19, 2025 / 12:00PM-2:00PM

Please arrive at 11:30AM and Report to the Club House for Registration Forms & Instructions.

Additional instructions will be provided at the Training Range by Instructor.

As range time is valuable, class starts promptly at the time indicated; no late arrivals to the range. 

CLASS SIZE: 8-12 STUDENTS (Depends on number of Safety Personnel present)

COST: FREE TO OSC MEMBERS ONLY / MUST BE 18YOA AND OVER

WHERE: Oconomowoc Sportsman’s Club, Range B

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:
Weapon:

  • Semi-auto pistol of your choice
  • Pistol Holster Required: Outside the Waistband Only
    • Restrictions: For safety reasons none of the following will be allowed – NO nylon, soft animal skinned, collapsable, shoulder holsters, fanny pack draw type or Serpa Brand
    • Allowed: Any Kydex, Safariland, Blackhawk or other similar products (complete Discretion of the Lead Instructor).

Magazines:

  • Pistol Magazine Pouch
  • 3 Pistol Magazines

Ammunition:

  • 150 Rounds Good Quality Pistol Ammo
  • No reloads

Other: Hat, eye and hearing protection, long sleeves, long pants with pants belt, sun screen, bug spray, fluids, note taking materials

OBJECTIVES:
This course will help diagnose and identify any of the most common types of actions that face today’s shooters who are consistently having trouble accurately hitting the targeted area. Reviewing the Basic Fundamentals of Shooting along with the Basic Principles of drawing from a holster are the keys to success.

State of Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board (LESB) Certified Firearms Instructor for Pistol, Red Dot (MRDS) & AR-15 Rifle Instructor

Dennis retired in 2024 after 35 years with a large Midwestern Police Department.  Besides his experience as a Patrol Officer, Dennis was assigned to his department’s SWAT Team for 23 years as an Assistant Team Leader, a Firearms & Tactics Instructor, along with being a Sniper for 20 years.  In addition, Dennis was assigned to the Training Academy for 8 years and assigned to the Range as a Lead Instructor for Recruits, General Officers, Specialty Unit Officers and SWAT Officers responsible for the development, planning and strategies for training.  In the past Dennis has authored articles which have been published in the Association of SWAT Personnel – Wisconsin (ASP) newsletters that focused on tactical and firearms training, firearms, SWAT team personnel selection and SWAT team training.  Currently, Dennis is on the staff at the Waukesha County Technical College / Law Enforcement Division as a Lead Firearms and Tactics Instructor for police in service.  He is also the Lead Training Instructor at the Wisconsin Firearms Training Center located in Brookfield, Wisconsin working with civilian 2A enthusiasts who are focused on improving their shooting skills.  Dennis has worked with thousands of officers and civilians during his career.  In 2023, Dennis started his own training company, Tier 1 Training & Tactics LLC, which is focused on providing practical reality-based training for the real world that produces positive results.
